I’m Noah Starer, an artist working in the naked clay movement –– clay without glaze. My previous career as a social worker directly informs my artwork: the hallmark of social work is empathy, and I’m always striving to establish empathetic connections with viewers. I draw inspiration from anthropology, archaeology, nature, and my personal experiences. I approach the artistic process with a sense of exploration, trying to create work that encourages introspection.

In the same way that every piece is new and fresh to me, I hope my sculptures may catch you off guard, uncover an unexpected awareness, or reveal some aspect of your own story through the cracks, curves, lines, breaks and perfect imperfections in the clay.
